American Motor Racing Association (AMRA) is pleased to announce the 2007 Brushcreek Motorsports Complex 'American Heritage 101' race will be an AMRA sanctioned Road Warrior Tour event.
The 'American Heritage 101' is a unique event in that the winner is presented with a brand new Harley Davidson 'Heritage' Motorcycle. Additionally, one lucky fan in attendance also will leave the evenings event as proud new Harley owner.
BMC promoter Tom Partin has awarded LM stars Don O'Neal, Mike Balzano and Jackie Boggs (a six time event winner!) with Harley's since the races inception.
Larry Keefer, AMRA president: "The AMRA is honored to be the headliner at the 'American Heritage 101' race. This is such a unique and prestigious event. It is certainly the biggest event that the AMRA has been involved with, and it's accurate to say this will be the biggest event ever east of the Mississippi River for the open wheeled modified division." Keefer continued, saying "The total purse is out of this world for the modified division. There is nearly $18,000.00 from 2nd to 24th, and if the winner chooses to opt for cash, the track will pay him $10,000.00 in place of the new Harley 'Heritage' motorcycle."
The race track itself is undergoing a face lift for the 2007 season.
Promoter Tom Partin took the AMRA board of directors to the track, where crews were working late into the evening reconfiguring the surface. Gone will be the triangular shaped track which measured over 4/10 mile near the outside retaining wall. The new track will retain the original front straightaway, but will now become a more traditional oval shape, with the backstretch now skirting just outside the infield score board & scale area. A quick lap around the layout indicated a just under 3/10 mile on the odometer, with the racing surface to be 70' wide at it's narrowest point, and 18 degrees of banking in the corners. "It's a drastic change from the past track shape & size. We listened to the fans and drivers and felt that this would provide everyone with a more competitive track. It's our hope that this work will allow Brushcreek Motorsports Complex to reach it's full potential, as we intended when it was originally built" Tom Partin stated.
'American Heritage 101' event notes:
The 2007 'Heritage 101' race weekend is Friday & Saturday August 3rd & 4th.
