CLARKSVILLE, TN – Lucky Keeton of Toomsuba, MS posted his ninth StormPay.com Weekly Racing Series West Region win of the season on Saturday night at Whynot Motorsports Park in Meridian, MS, and closed in on the 2006 regional championship. Only one driver in the StormPay.com WRS West Region has a mathematical chance to catch Keeton for the title.
Keeton has 741 points based on his best 16 finishes, and leads Talbert Goldman by 41 points. Terry Mosley is just one point behind Goldman in the third spot. Only Mosley can net enough points based on his best 16 finishes to catch Keeton in the remaining races of the 2006 StormPay.com Weekly Racing Series. The points season ends on October 1.
The top six drivers in both the West and East Regions of the StormPay.com Weekly Racing Series will receive point fund money. Several drivers are battling for those spots in both regions.
Herman Reynolds took the win on Friday night at Southern Speedway in Hattiesburg, MS and is solidly in the fourth spot in the West Region with 670 points. Tony Albright finished second on Saturday night at StormPay.com Speedway in Clarksville, TN to remain in the fifth spot with 646 points.
Steven Ashby is on the West Region “hot seat” in the sixth spot with 643 points earned at StormPay.com Speedway and Thunderhill Raceway in Lawrenceburg, TN. Two drivers are tied for the seventh spot just ten points behind Ashby. Landon Frith and Owen Stockstill both have 633 points in the seventh spot,
Roger Brewer is ninth with 627 points earned at Thunderhill Raceway, and Larry Murphy moved into the top ten with 623 points earned at Whynot Motorsports Park.
The East Region tracks of Talladega Short Track in Eastaboga, AL, Thunder Mountain Speedway in Fyffe, AL, and Childersburg Speedway in Childersburg, AL have completed their 2006 StormPay.com Weekly Racing Series season. Jason Wilson has won the StormPay.com Weekly Racing Series East Region Championship with 756 points.
Carlton Freeman is second with 724 points, followed by Adam Martin with 704 points, Logan Yates with 690 points, and John Pierce with 668 points. Jimmy Elkins Jr. takes the sixth and final points fund paying position with 620 points. Elkins moved up to the sixth spot following his win on Saturday night at Talladega Short Track.
Rounding out the top ten in the StormPay.com Weekly Racing Series East Region are Samuel Brown with 614 points, Jeremy Pruitt with 599 points, Buddy George with 578 points, and Steve Kirk with 543 points.
The top six drivers in each region will receive invitations to the $3,000-to-win 40-lap StormPay.com Weekly Racing Series National Championship Race at East Bay Raceway Park in Tampa, FL on December 14. The top six drivers from each StormPay.com Weekly Racing Series track, excluding the top six in the region, will also receive invitations to the National Championship Race.
In other StormPay.com Weekly Racing Series West Region action over the weekend, Mark Tice was the winner on Saturday night at Magnolia Motor Speedway in Columbus, MS, and Donald Johns was the winner at Thunderhill Raceway. Eddie Pace picked up another win on Saturday night at StormPay.com Speedway. Zach Nichols took his fourth StormPay.com Weekly Racing Series East Region win of the season on Saturday night at Thunder Mountain Speedway.
